Imagine the ripple effect of one person's commitment. That's the power of an AmeriCorps member, stepping up to tackle critical needs across the nation. In Florida, their impact is deeply felt, especially as the shortage of affordable housing tightens its grip on low-to-middle-income families – a crisis that explodes when disaster hits. With Habitat Florida, our AmeriCorps members aren't just helping; they're the backbone that will strengthen our service sites and fuels our ability to respond when disaster strikes, all in relentless pursuit of our core mission: safe, healthy, and affordable housing for all.

AmeriCorps isn’t just about what you give; it’s what you gain. Here’s an inside scoop of member benefits;

  • Fuel Your Purpose (and Your Wallet): Let's be honest, passion doesn't pay the bills. AmeriCorps provides a living allowance that lets you focus on your mission. Think of it as the support you need to dedicate yourself fully to what matters.

  • Bye-Bye, Loan Stress (For Now): That looming student loan? AmeriCorps can offer deferment and even interest forbearance on federal loans, giving you crucial financial breathing room during your service.

  • Skills That Shine on Your Resume: Forget boring internships. AmeriCorps throws you into real-world challenges, where you'll develop leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills that employers crave. This isn't just volunteering; it's a crash course in being awesome.

  • Unlock Your Future with Cold, Hard Cash (The Segal Award!): Successfully complete your service, and BAM! You earn the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award – serious money to invest in your future education or pay down those student loans. Think of it as a scholarship you earn by making a difference.
